  • what to look for (warranty)

g'day, my o5 petrol auto, is going in for its 10k service next week.

i have found a few things that need to be addressed

    exhaust leak
    fuel consumption
    vibrating high/low lever

just wondering what else i should look for.

i'd say my mechanical experince is low-medium, so...umm...

please explain, what happened or went wrong with yours!

    cheers in advance

    Exhaust leak = warranty.
Fuel consumption, depends on what it is? what figures are we talking and what conditions? Towing, 12 kids & a dog, HWy City?
Vibrating lever: How bad? The H/L lever is direct off the gearbox and the Auto shift lever is mounted to the body so the H/L lever will vibrate more.
My Grande one vibrates a bit as well, but certainly acceptable. (Makes a noise when you drop your spare keys in the leather boot though!)

I doubt you have an exhaust leak, it is an inherent noise generated by the design of the manifold, Toyota are well aware and keep promising to fix...to date nothing. At least they meet expectations on issues like this...do nothing...say nothing...therefore no problem...

Lippa, my transfer lever vibrates like a bastard (diesel engine). I can only tell this when placing a hand on the lever. It certainly doesn't transfer through to anywhere else, so I'm not concerned with it.

I had no issues at 10K with my diesel.

We had a 'clunking' problem when we first picked ours up. Check out this post for more info. We had it looked at by the service guys at our 1000k but there is still a light clunk every now and then when stopping fairly quickly (no slamming of breaks, just 'assertive' pressure on the brake pedal, if you know what I mean). Almost like the transmission is moving down to first while stationary.
