  • Exhaust- 120 Diesel

Hello 120 Prado owners. My previous thread enquiring about the Legendex 3" exhaust kit was accidently placed in the Market Forum. So I'm reposting here hoping to have more viewers. My enquiry was seeking opinions from 120 Prado Diesel owners who have installed a 3" exhaust kit in their prado. I'm seeking opinions about the performance of your prado since the install both good and bad. Is there a back pressure issue with a 3" kit in a 3.0lt D-4D diesel.

I am looking for extra grunt when towing our c'van up hill. Will a 3" exhaust kit give me that extra bit of power. My preference of choice is the Legendex 3" product.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards

G'Day. I have a 2002 GX Auto Diesel. I put the cheapest 3" exhaust on that I could find. It made a difference of next to nothing in power or fuel. Producing 60 KW at wheels now. Yay! My opinion is - rather save your money for a trip somewhere! Cheers.

G'day N-N, thanks for the headsup on the 3" exhaust. Can I ask if you did any towing after your conversion. If you have, was there any noticeable improvement with the GX performance?
      Cheers

I fitted a DP Chip which made a small improvement, but when I fitted the 3” front to rear exhaust system the improvement in performance was massive, particularly towing.

in terms of spool up or outright power?

It spools up around 200rpm sooner & has heaps more torque, I would describe it as improving by a gear (5 spd manual)

Thanks Shaker & ejukated for your input. What brand of exhaust did you use and were any issues encounted?
