GXL Option Packs? Clarifications:

Mine was a GXL, it was a special run, it came with two option packs.

Sales invoice has:

Vehicle to be new upgrade model prado gxl turbo diesel auto upgrade with VSC/TC option.

Also rear aircon, and paint options.

I'm thought at that time one of the option packs had leather bound gear selector and steering wheel so would have thought it was not standard at that time but will stand corrected.

Bottom line is it ended up with all the above and 5 speed auto.

Ours is a Manual 2008 GXL. Metallic paint with the only option pack with the side airbags.

Rear aircon standard, leather steering wheel and gear shift with steering wheel radio options standard.

VSC/TC option only for Auto models.

Leigh, Ours is late 2007 and has the rear AC and leather wheel etc. It was std for GXL from late 07 onwards. The TC/SC was the option pack.

Mines an 08 GX. We got the option pack that included steering wheel controls, cruise control, leather gear knob and steering wheel, flares and wide wheels (steel). I think that was all. Was metallic paint included or did I pay extra for that?

Metallic paint was a cost option on all models, no doubt just built into the sale price:

"*Indicates mica, metallic or pearlescent paint which is available at extra cost"

The standard wagon had a leather steering wheel as standard, GX picked up leather gear knob in the option packs, GXL and above tbis was standard.

I've been in tn the market to upgrade my 95 to a 120 for the extra safety features

Its a tossup between a optioned GXL or a VX. but I'm somewhat confused with the option pack on the GXL

I thought a GXL option pack included trac and stab control, along with the side/curtain airbags
However I found a car on gumtree that apparantly has traction control and downhill assist control, but the owner says it doesn't have curtain airbags.

Are the curtain airbags the seat mounted ones, or are they different again?
Does anyone know about the knee airbags? Were they also in the option pack, or did they come in at a certain year ?

Curtain airbags come down from the roof, above the door frame - like a curtain hence the name...
