  • service intervals

    hi everyone

just ordered a new VX D4D, upgrading from a diesel 90 series. Delivery time 10-12 weeks.
does this new diesel need a 1st service at 1000km like my old prado, or is like many new diesel cars getting it's 1st service at the normal service interval?
Are regular services at 5k or 10k?

      Service intervals

One thing that will kill a diesel is dirty oil, I know plenty of diesel owners that change there oil at 5k intervals, the ones that are planning to own the vehicle for some time anyway

Im running a d4d 3 litre diesel here in the UK its nearly 3 years old now, our service intervals are 10000 miles not Kms, why such a difference?

it's interesting to see that the same engine can go 16,000 between servicing in the UK but needs 10000k servicing here...

given a good percentage of them don't leave the blacktop in both places me wonders why... not as if the air in the UK is any cleaner...

Picked up my D4D today and asked about the servicing. 1,000km check is still free and can be done up to 3 months/5000km. Doesn't sound like they do much apart from checking. Diesel is 10,000km interval unless harsh conditions which I think means dusty or alot of heavy towing.

Not sure yet whether I'll keep up the 5,000km changes. Occasionally I'll tow a caravan and a bit of offroad every now and then. Don't know that I'd classify it as harsh conditions though.

              Service Interval

If you can change the oil yourself at the 5k interval it makes it cost effective as oil is cheap compared to an engine.

Wouldn't changing the oil yourself cause warranty issues?

                  I would think not.

                  Not changing the oil will.
And if you did it your self with the same oil/ filters, Who would know except you?.

I was told that if i do the oil change to staple receipt of oil purchase to service history and it's all good.
