Dustie ~ do you have a photo of this you can post? I have the sovereign b/bar, but it doesn't have a bast plate? Can you also advise its part number and cost if you have to order it separately?

      ntpryce,

This pic is from "Pradogxlv6's" rig buildup. Toyota doesn't make one, its just checker plate.

Thanks McBain and dustie ~ I had the (incorrect) impression that there may have been a custom part. ops:

To the left of the steering column there are two rectangular black plugs. One has the words "2nd start" on it. What is it for. Couldn't find anything in the book and Toyota were unable to give me the answer.

Re: What does this thing do?

I'm amazed Toyota couldn't tell you, it's their car. It's for starting is 2nd gear when first would give you too much torque e.g. starting on a steep muddy hill.

Re: What does this thing do?

There is some threads already on 2nd start button. A search will bring them out.

It will take this thread off topic, but basically its like driving off in 2nd gear rather than first.

If a vehicle is imported with airconditioning fitted the importer has to pay a licence fee to Environment Australia (or whatever they are currently called).

I imagine that it is more economic (cheaper) or there maybe less conditions for Toyota to import without the AC then fit the relevant components and charge the gas locally.

On a more light-hearted note I have found a couple of things on my Pajero that I couldn't find on my Prado.

A rear diff lock and HID headlights. I can't seem to find the sub-tank that the Prado had though.

I haven't been able to find a topic similar to this so I hope it's not a duplication. We'll need to post photos and specify the model and where the item is located. For example - what does this thing do? -

I have a 2008 Auto GXL Deisel. This object is located on top of the dash directly in front of the driver (drives me crazy that I see it everytime I'm driving the car but don't know what it is). I think it might be a sensor of some kind but not sure what it does or whether it's active for my model.

                        .
I am sure this is the 'black heat sensor'
This works in conjunction with the heating.

Are these 3 brackets in front of the radiator something to do with the original bumper :?:

Or are they just for cutting the back of your hand on........

                            Spot on Daz!

They are attachment points for the original bumper.

Re: What does this thing do?

I need to get a service manual as there's a miriad of things I still have no idea about.
This is the one I see most often and wonder about. Is it standard or aftermarket? My first guess is some sort of immobilizer as it has a key hole - I don't think I have any key for it though...any ideas?
It's situated in the dual battery space on the Drivers side.
