  • Petrol Engine Service Costs

    Hi All.
My next service due will be the 160,000km one. Has anyone got pricing they are willing to share for a dealer service on a V6 auto.. I rang Castle Hill Toyota and was quoted $1,100.00. All services have been Toyota except my last 4 services have been the same independent mechanic who does a good job but I was thinking genuine for this major service.
We purchased new and will have it for a few more years yet.

Every 40k service are the expensive ones (40, 80, 120, 160, 200) mainly due to the oils they recommend changing (Front and rear diff, transfer case etc) - get some quotes from your local mechanic as Toyota have always quoted a lot more for the majors in my experience...

Just in case someone else searches for this info I had my service completed last week at Toyota. The 160,000km service on a petrol 5 speed auto was $1,099.00. I had the front and rear wiper blades changed in that price as well. My main reason going to Toyota was ensuring the cooling system coolant change and brake fluid change with correct bleeding process due to DAC etc was completed properly.
My independant mechanic couldn’t seem to get the brake pedal feel correct even after showing him the process written elsewhere on this forum.

During the service the dealership rang saying front brakes were 10% and rears 15% and offered to complete the change for over $250.00 each end. I ordered F&R Bendix 4WD pads today for $157.00 total and will change them myself next weekend.

Just for information I rang NRMA service centre who quoted $1,150.00 for the same 160,000km service.

So I finally got around to doing the brake pads today, sort of. Rears still had 45% and fronts 60% pad material remaining. This was measured against the new pads, with a ruler. Needless to say the new pads are still in their packaging. Think I will ring Castle Hill Toyota on Monday for a chat with the service manager for what good it will do.
