Split inner CV Boot

Seems I have been making good use of fellow Pradopointers knowledge in the last couple of weeks,
and looks like I have one more.
While checking out the front wheel wells to see if I think I can replace the front struts myself I have spied a split in one of the inner CV Boots. The split looks pretty new, the shaft inside looks dry at the split. As I can't seem grease everywhere I'm hoping I have picked it up early. I have attached a picture (I hope).
I will tape it up for the moment.
Any advice and options greatly appreciated.

If you haven’t heard it binding yet, it’s still lubricated. Just make sure you replace it very quickly if it starts making a binding noise. But prior to then is advisable. Just don’t leave it too long if you think it looks dry. The knuckle joints in the cv’s is what’s coated heavily in grease. Should be about $110 delivered for a replacement cv shaft off EBay. The new one will last a long time.

Asked the local Toyota mob for a price on a CV Shaft, Over $500. Asked the price on replacement boots they quote over $200? (Pick myself up off the floor).
Perhaps this is for two pair?
Impressive margins.

I think that is each. Their boots are excellent quality, but the eBay ones aren’t too bad. Especially when you can buy nearly 5 ebay ones to the one Toyota one. I reckon the eBay ones would last probably at least 75% of the average life span of the Toyota ones. I had eBay ones on my 90 for a few years and did plenty of off-roading with them. Nothing wrong with plenty of the aftermarket stuff out there. When it comes to ball joints, get aftermarket ones with zerk fittings so they can be regreased. With the ability to re-grease they last ages.
