Well the engine blew today outa nowhere. No chip, no tune, stock as a rock other than the idrive controller. Just over 200k on the clock, cruisin down logan m'way as it always has as smooth as you like and then started losing power. Pulled over straight away and by then it was rattling and shaking and blowing smoke which it has never done. Anyway off to Toyota for diagnosis (had that feeling). Cylinders 2&3 have no compression and most likely cracked pistons. So I'm waiting on a quote but will more than likely just offload it as is if anyone is interested in a project. Been a great car. We were in the early stages of starting to look for something new anyway so the timing couldnt have been more crap. For anyone potentially interested here is a list of the accessories/mods on the car. Dual batteries redarc controller, Runva winch in genuine toyota cradle sovereign bar, Brand new rear detroit locker, Drifta drawers, Milford cargo barrier, Safari snorkel, AMS bash plate, Air bag man airbags, Rhino rack, Korr light bar + brand new kings 7" leds, Tekonsha P3 brake controller, Custom rear bar with wheel carrier and 2 jerrys, custom sliders, Reverse camera, Couplertec rust protection, 30 second awning, Diff and g-box breather kit, 2" kings/bilsteins, uhf and probably some other stuff i've forgotten. Have rear seats and factory side steps still to. Bout 20k+ worth of goodies on the car and a lot of them are recommendations from this site. Tried to upload pics but most are too big. Its an 08 upgrade white d4d auto. Cheers

Not too sure yet. Got a quote back from toyota.......sit down for this.......$17,535. I'm in the process of having my insurer assess the claim. Should it be a no or cant be fixed the car will be parted out.

Partial engine for a hilux is around 8800, It has injectors, water pump and fuel lines in the box. I just did it myself with trade pricing for under 8k. Ask them for the quote

Forget Toyota, I had a similar experience recently. Took my Prado in for a service, came out with a $7.5k quote to fix a bunch of non-issues. They prey on lack of knowledge.
