    The rear door on my prado 2008 Manual Diesel is stuck closed. I have removed as much of the door card as possible and located the locking mechanism. How do I remove it? It is stuck.

    Full of dust and crap? Hose it out up through the unlock handle. After it dries a bit, flood it with silicon spray. Both the 120 and 150 are buggers for sucking dust in through there and clagging up. Also plenty of silicon spray all around the lock after hosing.. When you do get it open get inside the door and give a good clean. Use silicon spray and not WD40. Dust sticks to the latter.
    On any outback dusty trip I brush and wipe down all around the lock every time I open the door and at the end of the day I floor it with silicon. A nightmare outback.

      Yep as above, flood lock with water and work the mech to free. When travelling in dusty conditions I use the fire fighting spray bottle to flush it out regularly.

        It's not a Dust issue. I have blown it out thoroughly with a compressor. The lock is broken and I need to remove it.

          I have half the door card off in the interior and can feel the level coming down from the handle all the way to the locking mechanism. I can move the handle fine but the lock is jammed.

            I would still try as per post 2. There are a lot of moving parts and pivots in there and it only takes 1 to stick. High pressure water will do more than air especially if gummed up with lubricant and dust.. That said the possibility of a broken lock outback is always in my mind hence the regular cleaning..               Try pushing the door in while operating the handle, it is not uncommon for the handle to work but the mechanism still not to unlock, pushing door in helps free the mech if it is stuck.

                Just had to get mine replaced. Toyota had to order one in from Japan. Took a couple of months and $500. Which sucked. Had to put all the luggage in and out via the passenger compartment! (Toyota said it was an electrical fault, not the I really believe them).

                  As per leigh W post plus lift as you push in and operate the handle. It is a dodgy design and thousands must have had issues.

                    I have blasted it out with eater and air. All moot, however, as I have half the interior door card off and can trace the lever from the door handle to the lock and it is working perfectly. I can operate the exterior handle by moving interior lever up and down. The lock still wont open. What I want to know is this: How do I remove the locking mechanism whilst it is locked? I think it needs to be replaced.
