    Hutch,
My brochure which I got in January 2007 (printed 11/2006), covering both diesel and petrol, shows ground clearance for GX , GXL and VX as 181mm and for Grande 205mm.

Don't know where they actually take the ground clearance measurement from but I'm guessing it would have to be the lowest clearance point (wherever that is).!
That is interesting as last time I checked the Toyota website all Prado models showed the same clearance.! And I know around xmas time I checked when I bought mine and the Grande was definately 205 and the others around the 180 that you mentioned.!
Maybe the 07 models are on taller springs.!

in the world according to Wikipedia

Ride height (ground clearance or simply clearance) is the amount of space between the base of an automobile tire and the underside of the chassis; or, more properly, to the shortest distance between a flat, level surface, and any part of a vehicle other than those parts designed to contact the ground (such as tires, tracks, skis, etc.). Ground clearance is measured with standard vehicle equipment, and for cars, is usually given with no cargo or passengers.

so i'd assume that would be from ground to the rear diff? maybe?

Yes that is what i am questioning, they were always over 200mm(pre 2007) now they quote 181mm on the GX, GXL,VX, i am wondering why we have gone lower or have they just changed the way they measure it.
Actually measuring mine i get 200-205mm right across the front and 225mm at the rear diff. I thought the deisel might be lower at the front as it is the only real change for 2007.

:? Think we are at opposing ends of this one Hutch, pre 2007 the Toyota website specifications were 205mm for the Grande and 185mm if I remember correctly for all the other models as I previously mentioned. But for some reason their website now in 07 states 205mm for all models. Must be something strange going on with their advertising dept.! Seems the printed advertising that you mentioned has swapped around to oppose the website specs. Either way theres not much in it, I wouldn't let it be a deciding factor on which model to buy.

From what I have heard the lower ground clearance is due to the D4D being slightly heavier in the front end.

I measured my 90 yesterday and the book says the Grande should be 245mm ground clearence, well the shocks are seriously old and about to be replaced but...

The height at the lowest part of the front bash plate is 230mm and the rear diff is sitting at 225mm.

Can't wait to put the 2" lift into it 8)

That's a nice ride height Matt.

... and I love the high-tech recycled natural timber product parking assist device - they would be worth a fortune in Greenie country

Matt, he's referring to your last pic, not the second last one in the driveway and I agree it doesn't look lifted. Are you sure this isn't a pre lift photo?

Just drove to and from home to the central coast today in an absolute deluge - the ole Grandtreks clung to the road like women to a wallet

The Prado is the most surefooted car I have ever driven in the wet.

BTW, the extra lift looks sensational!!
