  • Hey ####,

I got the C59-487 custom made just before X'mas, which is why you haven't heard about it!

I wasn't happy with how my rear end sits with a 327, and a constant load of false floor, fridge on slide, sec batt etc., and I don't like using coil spacers.

I didn't know you could just order a 327 at 430mm, the 487 sounds like the same coil? It has the same number of winds as a 327, just taller and stiffer.

When you get a 327 at 430mm, is it a stiffer spring rate?

    • Just wanting to know the for the standard height King springs as they don't seem to be on the database?
      I think the numbers are:
      KTFS-101
      KTRS-102

Also wanting to know what is the height difference between the standard and raised king springs???
      Thanks

      • Hey,

Bit of info on the standard Kings here in post #2...

        http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...bo-Information

Looks like you'll get around 10mm lift, but it could be higher.

        • Does anyone have any info on the OME LTR range?

          Comment

          • Hey rorza,

The LTR's with the remote res had a pretty good reputation for not fading after a hard days track travel, but the only thing that can be adjusted on them is the nitrogen pressure.

I haven't read of anyone running these on Prados??

I'm guessing the LTR's will be superseded by the BP51's.

If you've got the coin, I'd be looking at the new BP51 struts/shocks from ARB, they look really well made, remote res, massive 70mm diameter and are fully rebound/compression adjustable in-situ on the car.

They haven't released the BP51's for Prados yet, but it's not too far away from what ARB told me recently.

The big let down with the BP51's is that they will be released only in fixed closed-open lengths, which I find a bit ridiculous. They are big bucks, and for the price I'd want custom lengths available.

            • Let's hope the open closed lengths are Prado 120 suitable!

Are the BP51's set to rival set ups like Icon and King Shocks?

              Comment

              • Hey rorza,

The BP51's are definitely set up to rival Icons price wise (BP51's are several hundred dollars more expensive than a stage 1 Icon kit), with $845/strut and $550/shock, but the real question is if ARB will release a long travel version.

If they don't, then the BP51's will never match Icons or Kings (fully customisable closed-open lengths), and they will end up being like Koni RAIDS, an excellent piece of gear, but limited to minimal 1" or so of lift due to their short travel giving limited droop.

I can say after having a BP51 strut and shock in my hands recently, they look extremely well put together, and I'd be willing to try them if they have long travel versions. The adjustable rebound/compression collars also look very interesting!

I suspect that ARB have a similar policy to Koni, and they will not build suspension that can damage/break other suspension components (CV's, ball joints etc.), so I'm not expecting a long travel version, which will be disappointing!

                        • Hey all,

I finally measured some FJ Cruiser suspension today, quite interesting!

                          Front coils 355mm free height
Rear coils 385mm free height (not sure what the spring rates are)

                          Front struts 435-540mm
                          Rear shocks 365-573mm

Factory ride heights are 738mm front, 775mm rear.

I measured a whopping 105mm droop on the front IFS!

The front struts are interesting, they have a closed length of a 150 series, and an open length of a 120 series.

I didn't get a chance to measure any leverage ratios or bumpstop limits, but it definitely appears that the FJ has much more articulation on the IFS in factory trim compared to the 120 series.

I'd really like to measure the IFS on the FJ in detail now!

Thanks for the update to the database.

The FJ struts are very interesting. The leverage ratio must be higher to get such high droop, which means a longer control arm. I'll try and get some more measurements done!
