Its also not that easy to put 33" muddies on a Prado, it can be done but you need to look into this a fair bit before you throw on a set that will rub in a lot of places.

    Cheers Andrew

      Thanks for the feedback guys.

As for 33" muddies on a Prado . . . I had 17x7.5’s rims, wrapped in 275/70x17 Maxxis Bighorn muddies on my GX without a problem.

Thats about as big as you can go without major issues, and thats a bit under 33", 285/70/17's which are around 33" cause a few issues.

There are a number of threads on fitting 33's if you look in the wheel and tyre section.

        Cheers Andrew

Thanks again for your input AJ.

I have just rung a few suspension places here in Perth and the firm answer from all of them regarding 2" lift into a Grande is "No, we don't touch 'em!"

Looks like the hunt begins for a GXL . . . why did I ever sell my GX

There's quite a number of lifted Grandes running around on PP. Don't think you should rule them out. I've done the full suspension upgrade on mine by myself so it is achievable.

              275/70-17 are only 32.2inch. 285/70-17 are 32.8 closer to 33".

The grande is easy and cheap to do a lift on. The rear just get a little longer shock, but not too much to stretch he bag too much.
Then trick the sensors a little, no need to go too much as you already have the high button......
Also remember, it don't matter how much load you put in it stays there! Big bonus really, barely worth mulching round with.
I think they sit pretty well in the high position, even fully loaded..... Same height. And still a soft ride when it's empty.
I think I just sold me a grande........
Now change the air bags every 7years keep the old ones and a SST spares.

Hi guys. Old thread, but I'm experiencing the same problem. I have had the drivers side airbag mount fail as well. Does anyone have any photos of a mount that has been strengthened, ie. a brace welded to it for additional support. Thanks guys.

Hi Roadster, I had the same problem with my drivers side mount starting to deform. I used a pry bar to get the mount back to the correct position then I found some steel bar which I cut to fit and welded a piece to the front and back of the mount as shown in the pictures below.

Has anyone ever used Kings spring replacement designed to replace the air bag without the need for an adapter kit to enable springs to work? I’m interested in buying these springs. But maybe in a constant load variety.

                    The website reads:
120 Prado Grande/Lexus GX470 specific rear coils to convert from the self-levelling airbag rear suspension to coils. These coils are designed to be a direct fit without the need for any adaptor kits.

You don't need any adaptors.. Talk to AMTS, he sells springs that suit.

No probs. I’ll replace the rear airbags & Tems shocks with King springs & EFS Elite shocks.
