  • Grande rear coil conversion

    Hey pradoians,
So I'm about to throw some coils in the rear of the grande.
Im also upgrading shocks to ironman foam cell pros.
Ive also purchased adjustable sway bar links.
Theyre the ones that need to be cut to length.
Does the grande need the extra 30mm extension on the sway bar links or are they long enough?
    Thanks.
    Mat

You will get more suspension down travel with the extended links on all Prados, including Grande. I have personally measured this on a Grande, the OE sway bar links bind at 615mm shock extension, same as other Prados: https://www.pradopoint.com.au/forum/...mum-extension=

Although the Ironman Pros are 618mm open, you still want to extend the sway bar links to take the pressure off the sway bar at full extension. A 30mm extension is maximum, you could go less if you wish to be safe. Even 15-20mm is enough.

Measure the OE sway bar links and make sure the extended ones are cut down to be no more than 30mm longer than the OE sway bar links. If the links are too long, they will contact the lower control arm at full suspension compression.

      Great info, much appreciated.
Now I need to figure out the bushing and washer setup for the shocks!

        The correct sequence is: (bottom washer)-(bottom bush)-(spigot washer)-[chassis]-(top bush)-(top washer)-(nut)

The spigot washer which sits underneath the chassis hole has an extrusion to locate it in the chassis.

If you have 2 different sized spigot washers, the smaller spigot is for the 120 series, the larger one is for the 150.

Also, if you fit the foam cell pro front struts, you will need to use front sway bar relocation blocks to give sufficient strut body to sway bar clearance.

              Completed the rear conversion.
Happy with the shocks, but the kings ktrr102ab have the rear sitting at 815mm! Just waiting for Andrew to get back to me with his abhd coils...
I installed the front setup a few months ago with ktfr101ht. I picked up a pair of the relocater blocks too, however couldn't install due to sway bar hitting the Bashplate! I still need to figure out how to work them in. The sway bar is really close to the struts, although I haven't seen any physical signs that they rub one another. I do have scuffs on the coils from the uca, that might be something to look into in a later date!
I went about 20mm extension on the rear sway bar links..
              Thanks

You'll need some spacers for that bash plate, mine has a diff drop fitted so the bash plates are already spaced down from the diff drop kit.

I'm not surprised that the KTRR102AB only gave you 815mm at the rear, they are only 405mm long at 240lb/in. A nice comfy rate, but they need to be at least 425mm long to give you a 40-50mm lift. I think you'll find the 120ABHD lift is perfect and just a little firmer to carry some weight without too much rear sag.

I think craigm has 120ABHDs on his Grande.
