    Hi Joey & Matt

I am actually trying to decide between the two brands you mention here. I have coopers (ST) on my patrol and ever since the car has pulled to the left. No one can correct this and all have blamed the tyres. Before I re-shoe the prado, can you tell me if you have had the same experience with the STT's please. Other than that, I have been very happy with the ST's on and offroad performance, albeit with some lugg and sidewall damage.
    Thanks, Andy

Make sure you run the correct tyre pressure, depending on your terrain. These tyres along with others will chip and cut if you don't drop pressure when offroad. I would drop them down to say 25psi for dirt/rocky tracks and obviously lower for sand.

I will post some pics of my STT's. I'm not sure of there mileage, but it will encourage you all to lower pressures and avoid damage.

Always do. I'm not blaming the tyres, some of the tracks were the worst i've driven on! I think any brand tyre would have been challenged.

              Re: Cooper STT review

I have used Cooper AT and STT on my Hilux sR5. I have BFG AT on my Prado120. I didn't mind the AT - although definitely like the BFG AT better than Cooper AT.

I have gone through quite a few STTs on the Hilux in 140,000kms. Basically mostly my fault or my ex wife - you definitely need to rotate REGULARLY to avoid NOISY tyre syndrome. occassionally it got that bad tthat people commented they thought an Army APV was coming down the road...

I don't like to keep the STTs for much more than 30 - 40,000kms - I dirt bike ride and we don't keep tyres until they are almost bald. I believe STTs useable offroad kms to be more like 30-40,000kms. Which is pretty bloody good.

On my Prado I'm not sure how many kms I've done on the BFG ATs, but it would have to be over 60,000kms easily. It's a 2004 v6 with 140,000kms. They have been excellent tyres, but ready for replacement very soon. I have had to keep them longer than I would like for economy reasons - it's been a tough year. Plus my ex is driving at the moment - when I get it back I'll put new tyres on.

I ahve cooper sst 265-70-17 & have just done a 9000klm trip thtrough the simpsom up to the old gahn line to chambers pillar, then up to the west macdonalds, back down to inaminka via oodanadatta & stez tracks then back to brisbane.
I must say I was very impressed with their performance over all the different types of terrain, from dry sand to rocky corrugated roads, only issue I have with them is with how noisy they are, makes my other set of coopers st's seem silent in comparison
I think they handle the wet black top better than the ST's wich was a big suprise, Would I buy another set :?: maybe if I could get them at the right price again but at $400 a tyre I would have to think very hard about it

                  Re: Cooper STT review

I bought 5 of these tyres about 18 months ago and was impressed with their performance but not with their their wear. Anyways, I bit the bullet and bought 4 more before setting off on a 3 month trip back in July. The 4 new ones went on the Prado and the old ones were put on the camper trailer and carried as spares. After 20,000 kms, tread depth is down from 14mm to 9mm (average). I even did a tyre rotation mid-trip. Although 9mm sounds like plenty of tread depth, I wouldn't want to use them off-road with less than 6-7mm, so I figure I will be lucky to get another 10,000kms out of them which gives about 30,000kms. Pretty piss poor, but I guess that is kinda typical of softer mud compounds that spend half their life on the blacktop. Would I buy them again - probably not. I thing BFG All Terrains are a better option and would get at least double the mileage.

                  Cheers - Byrnsie
