  • Fridge Mounting: Left or Right.

I will be mounting my 12v sockets to power my fridge and 12v accessories soon, at this stage I will be putting an engel/cigi socket on one side, cigi/cigi on the other, getting to my question: what side have people mounted their fridges on and why??

    Cheers

Mines on the passenger side because I'm right handed.

I have one drawer with a fridge on it on rhs.
Which is where both fridges plug into engel sockets.
On the left I have two cig sockets and room for another fridge on the floor or one rear seat so we can still seat six if needed.
120 though so not sure how you will go for room

I have mine on the left.

If for any reason you cant fully open the rear door and the fridge is on the RHS, you may not be able to access it.

Also when I have my trailer connected and want to access the fridge, if it was on the RHS I would need to step over the draw bar, which would be a PITA.

I think you must be doing it wrong

Mine is on the right because the NL Weekender control panel is on the left. Also with the door partly open it is easier to reach in to the right than reach around to the left.

x2, but i still use an esky
Also, just the driver in the car makes it RHS heavy (unless you have a full tank of fuel), so a something in the LHS somewhat balances the vehicle.

Mine is on the RHS, and I have a rear door table that is just over half the rear door wide. That way I can have the fridge out, the table down, access to the two drawers on the left. Just seemed to work best for me.

Its a 120 but on the left because if I had it on the right I couldn't have the controls easily accessible and still open it The sockets are on the right because that's where the previous owner put them (and the existing 12v socket was there already)

Also helps when you can't open the door fully

X3 Fridge possibly the most frequented thing in the back for us so easiest access is on the left and the fridge slide all super slick with Black Widdow gear. Our right side draw has a table top when pulled out so fridge on left and table on right all works for making a meal on the go.

On the left......when I pull over and grab a drink i'm standing away from the roadside....................learned that from a minesite induction a few years ago.......put your vehicle between you and any oncoming traffic where possible.......shit happens.

Passenger side for me...purely because there is a drawer on the other side, and my fridge is kinda tall and not on a slide.
The drawer is on the drivers side so that the side with space was available without having to open the door all the way...

Some days I wish the Prado had a split fold down tail gate...that would be oodles more betterer for access than a giant door...

I have them on the right but I should have put them on the left. I have a trek table and have been thinking about drawers. If my trek table is down , I wouldn't be able to slide my fridge out if the fridge slide was on the right hence they should have been on the passenger side

mine is on the left due to the controls and opening direction. however, I listen to AM and having it next to the window antenna introduces audible hum into the radio. not sure if having it on the right would help here ?

(assuming someone is riding shot-gun) I think its best to keep the extra weight to the RHS. The main tank and cranking battery are on the LHS and the second tank across the middle so I like to even it up in the rear with the heavy stuff on drivers side.

Could also be an issue for those of us (not me) that have bridged our airbags together which means the airbags would possibly push more air to the lighter side and lean!
