Hi Guys
Does anyone know for sure if the 2018 factory Toyota town bar tongue is reversible (can be used up side down)?
Does this affect the ratings on the tongue?

The sticker on mine says AT 3000/300 and does not discuss the reversibility. However the model is PZQ64-60220. I have found out that it is reversible from the dealer and they sent me the specs.

Hmmm, never given it a thought, I’ve always just towed with it so the trailer was level. The only force applied that will make any difference, will be the down force and I can’t really see the orientation making that much difference on a 300kg weight. I’m no engineer, but that just makes sense to me.

I've pondered why some towbars are supposed to be used one way up and not the other too. The only conclusion I have been able to arrive at is: If fully loaded and stressed (on a rough road, for instance), could the weld slowly crack, allowing the flat steel tongue to tear away from the 50mm square part? Particularly applicable for towbars where the weld area is at a 45 degree angle.

Can anyone else add to that (or blow it out of the water)?
