How many kg winch extension strap do I need? 4500? or bigger

All depends what’s its pulling out of the mud! I’d be thinking double that though

Winching doesn't give shock loads like snatch straps, more a gentle constant pull. So 4500 would do for a standard prado and never use it snatching. I run 10000 myself however as its what I found at the time at the supplier I used. If you feel you may ever need to use the extension for a snatch (And you likely will) I'd get higher rating. I recall once having to snatch a Patrol out that drove onto a sloppy salt pan.. We had 12 x 20 mtr winch extension straps on him as you couldn't get a car near him.

Winching load will vary depending on surface, depth of bog, incline and free movement of wheels. Regardless of which WLL you choose consider a winch extension rope instead of strap. You can't use Strap through a pulley. Use of a pulley or multiple pulley blocks also reduces the load on the winch.

Nothing wrong with straps. Rope is lighter and takes less space in the recovery kit and you can get custom made lengths. Rope also simplifies the process with double line or more complex recoveries.
