  • Lithium jump starters

Wandering if anyone has feedback on these from actual use?
ARB unit seems to have good specs and is on sale at the moment in W.A. for $200.

Also like Rooboost ($120 on Amazon) and Noco GB40 ($180 on ebay) from initial desktop research.

Interested to hear if you’ve successfully jumpstarted a 150 series diesel Prado using one of the above or an alternative unit.

    thanks

          Time for another thread revival!
So have any of you had real-world experience with the latest little jump starters +/- charge units? I'd like to get something to primarily use as a backup starter for a dead battery in the Prado 150, but to likely also use as a battery charger for devices too.
I have noted brands like Noco and Projecta seem like a good place to start? Thouhts?

Yep, seen more small ones crap out than anything. But the Projecta 1500 Amp unit I have has jumped about 300+ times now and still going strong.

I'll have a look-see. Just out of interest, reckon one of these jump starters could happily run my 12v (~18A) motorised jockey wheel? Mat

I have the ARB unit. Used it a number of times when my battery was on the way out. No issues, works a treat.

I've had two of my own, and used a friend's. My first eBay cheapie started my Camry fine but not the V6 prado. My friends iTech also would not start the Prado (resorted to conventional jump start), apparently we were not using it correctly but he has not had cause to use it again so don't know. I've since bought the Adventure Kings unit and it has been great. Did about 10 starts up until a month ago when I put the new battery in. The Kings had no problem with 4 starts on a single charge, then I recharged it so I didn't get caught out - not sure how many more it would do on single charge.

I recently bought one. Size is like a brick. (un)fortunately I have not experienced an empty car battery since I got it...

I bought one from 12v Direct, its supposed to start 6l diesels, have tried it twice now on the Prado but it wont do the job, the second time it was on charge nearly 24 hrs and still wouldn't start the engine.

The battery in the Prado was only flat because I left interior light on so it wasn’t that bad, once we jump started it from another car it hasn't missed a beat since.

I also use the Projecta 1500 and haven't come across anything it couldn't start.

We have one of the Projecta 1500A units at work and it'll start everything from a 2.8L Hilux to the 3.2 Rangers and the V8's in the 79 Series without a care in the world. Great bit of kit, and fairly light for what it does, too.

I've had the Kings 1000A one for a couple of years. Needed it for the first time this week and it did almost nothing. Recharged it & tried again a few times but it wouldn't start my 150 D4D.
After a few hours on charge with a 240v charger running off my solar inverter I got the Prado going, so know the battery wasn't completely shot.

My old battery crapped out - call RACQ - they used the projecta 1500 to jump start my old v6- left clamp to my battery to recharges itself to what seem like 30 seconds, 2 green lights came on and the guy tells me the unit has been recharged ready for the next one…. Had a look at the price out of interest- 800rrp - gosh, so it is probably designed for professional use
