  • Rear Spoiler

Does anyone know how to disassemble the rear spoiler? - the one at the top of the rear door.

It collects a lot of dirt inside the assembly after a long drive on remote tracks.
I cant wash the dirt out so pulling it apart looks like the go.

Not sure about howto dismantle but on my 2018vx after doin* Gibb river road an$ surrounding stations and all the falls in kakadu mine was the same I found just running the hose (no Nozzle) into the corners with hose parallel to the rear window, cleaned out most of the red dust after a few washes

Thanks Pradosaur. I got some tips from the Prado 150 repair manual.

We also rattled our way along the Carson River Track, Kalumburu, Gibb & Tanami roads middle of last year (2019).
Unfortunately the floor of rear spoiler is flat inside with a bit of a lip around the edge that collects and holds dust.

There is a removable plastic trim on the RH under-side which can be levered off with a trim lever or screw driver. There are 2 clips on the far RH side of the trim and a hook on the LH side.
Once the clips have been popped carefully wriggle the trim out. It will have dust caked on to it.

Looks like to get at the LH side requires removal of the entire spoiler - maybe another day.

Was there mid-July/August. Came off the Carson River Track 20km south of Kalumburu end July.
Everyone's suspensions held up over all the tracks but plenty of flat tyres on the Carson River Track.
The 79 series seem to have weak tie rod ends. One vehicle broke a tie rod end at slow speed, which we replaced, but broke another on the GRR and smashed the entire front drive train.

Easy enough to remove, but it's necessary to undo some bolts from behind the trim on the inside of the door
