Squeaking brakes 2012 150

Over the past few months I am getting low speed brake squeak from front brake LHS. Toyota's response was to "deglaze" the brake pads. Within a month I am back to squeaky brakes again. After applying the brakes a few times, the squeaking goes away until next time the car is driven ... presumably because the brakes cool down. I am concerned that either something is loose or metal is rubbing on the discs (less likely). Nothing has happened to the vehicle to cause damage. Q. Can the squeak damage pads or discs? Q. Can brake pads squeak due to moisture or maybe dust?
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a common enough problem and Toyotas response seems reasonable. I imagine you tend to fairly light on the brakes, that's usually what causes it.

Really standing hard on the brakes once in a while will help, otherwise it's just an annoyance rather than a problem.

I've only got two suggestions, but i'd have thought Toyota techs would have checked them. 1) Brake pad wear indicator rubbing on the rotor, or 2) caliper pistons rubbing on brake pad backing plate.

There are a few things that cause noisy brakes. Assuming all is ok in the brake area, everything tight, plenty of pad, etc. the first place I would start would be glazing of both the pads and rotors. Deglaze the pads, a very light skim off the disks. Refit them all correctly and all should be good. Like AJ120 said, unfortunately it is mostly driving style that causes this noise, that and cheap nasty brake pads. Stick with either bendix or genuine pads in my experience, others are ok but stay clear from cheap stuff like silverline or calibre.

Was browsing old posts and thought I would update this. Toyota fixed squeak problem by removing sharp edges of brake discs. Fixed.
