  • Brake Test - Safe-T-Stop

    Hi Folks,

For my next service I've requested a brake test called Safe-T-Stop. This is a system that helps provide performance details on the braking performance of the car, has anyone used this at a dealer or brake specialist ? I'm particularly interested how the brakes are performing from a overall perspective but also front / rear brake bias. Also does anyone know if Toyota can actually test the ABS is working via diagnosis tool etc ?

    Regards
    Rob

    Are you concerned about braking?
I had to slam on the brakes the other day when someone pulled in front of me while I was going 80kmh and was absolutely astounded by how well and quickly the Prado stopped. That's with stock brakes and pads. Car is heavy too - barwork, winch, racks, tent, full rear drawers, lifted etc

I have used the Platetronic machine before but not for a Prado. It was a requirement for rego by the certifying engineer for a comprehensive brake test on a hot rod I built with a highly modified brake system. It was amazing the amount of braking data provided by just a low speed stop on the machine. It also does weight on each wheel, toe in or out for both axles and shock absorber test. So it can provide lots of usefull info and it was pretty cheap where I had it done.

No major concerns but i have noticed a slight reduction in braking force since my suspension lift, so I would like some real facts on front/rear brake bias etc. Also its bundled into cost of service so I'll give it a go.
