I have recently purchased and GXL Auto D4D 150. I was origionally going to get a manual but going with the wishes of my wife I ended up getting the auto. I already have a D4D 5 speed manual Hilux and love it. Was just wondering what the 6 speed manual was like in the Prado.

the six speed is tops,i love the engine braking you get with manual over an automatic, 1st gear in low range is a great ratio when out the bush, just got back from week long camping/ 4wding trip, a mate of mine has a 2009 auto 3ltr patrol and he wished he held out for the manual after driving mine, the prado went everywhere the patrol went, came home with a bit of bush pinstripping and slight ding in rear drivers door- but have good stories of the week so cant complain about panel damageWhite 2010 150 series Prado * TD * ARB bullbar * Redarc dual battery isolator * Powerful 4x4 rack/awning * Cooper ST Maxx 265/70/17

There has been a poll on this - seems most of the respondents favour the Auto. When I test drove the manual I didn't like the positioning of the gear stick. My left forearm was consistently rubbing the centre console. Perhaps that has something to do with my well developed physique
