  • Just one quick question...

Reading this topic I understand that you fit an oil cooler in front of the car.
When I had my prado V6 in Egypt, it came from supplier with a 3rd cooler (not the AC one, not the motor one) with flexible hose around (was surprised about it). Shall I understand it was a transmission cooler ?

Is this a standard accessory on some models of 150 ?

    • The V6 comes with a transmission cooler. The diesel doesn't. Stupid idea by Toyota.

      • Thanks for information. Now more clear.

Maybe they put cooler on V6 because rotation speed is overall much higher for equivalent torque...?

        • So I picked up my DC678 yesterday from SCA, and now I'm wondering where did everyone get their auto fluid from?

Sorry for the late reply, auto oil from Toyota, genuine oil. I know some people use a Penrite oil, but personally I would never intentionally mix two different oils. So genuine Toyota WS oil it is for me. If you want to just drop the sump and refil one 4L pack will be fine, if you want to flush I find by the third 4L pack it is clean enough on most vehicles. A good price is around $50 per 4L pack if you can get it, I think retail is around $72ish....

              • Great install. Have a camper 1.6tonne and over temp light comes on at slow speeds with bar and winch.Toyota says it is because of the bar. Will install the additional cooler.
PM sent to buy some brackets.

                  • How on earth did you all get the new hose down to the metal line?

I can't for the life of me see how I can get my hand, let alone a pair of pliers to undo the hose clamp!!

                        • So all up, not including runs to Repco, I'd call it an hour to hour and half install. That includes profiling and filing up cooler & hoses with fluid.

Straight away seeing drops of about 15-20 deg on AT temp.

Best mod done yet. Thanks Tin for the brackets and the idea.

I did mine from underneath. I could get the hose clamp off from underneath but in the end i dropped the bash plate to make enough room to run the hose properly
