Hi,
I have an issue and i 'm not sure it's related to the tail-shaft clunk as this has been greased and that particular issue was when slowing down / stopping but am unsure.
2010 GXL 3.0 auto
First of all, shifting from 1st to 2nd is noticeably more "rough" than going from 2nd to 3rd to 4th to 5th. 1st to 2nd has a solid (thud) feeling when it shifts vs the other gears which feel smooth. Is this normal?
Also, the really annoying issue, when i slow down and then go to speed up again, I sometimes get a clunk feeling (not audible). If I slow down and then gently ease back on the accelerator, it doesn't do this. I can make it clunk every time by letting off and pedal and immediately pushing it back in. Especially if I shift into S mode and do this in 1st, 2nd, 3rd when lifting my foot off and pushing it back down.
I started noticing this more recently as I have had to go over a lot of speed bumps (slowing down then accelerating (on and off the gas a lot).
I also notice that sometimes when gently accelerating to 60km/h the auto drop back to 5th can sometimes drop back with a thud feeling. These issues are very frustrating as I find i'm always babying the thing trying to avoid a thud.
Is something in the drivetrain possibly loose? Had the gearbox oil changed with Penrite ATF but filter not changed or flushed and no difference.
On another note, does anyone notice at 100km/h, you have to give the thing a boot full to make it drop back to 4th and take off? Feels like 5th gear is so laggy on the highway.
Thanks!
