  • Sports Mode 2018 GXL

    Hi,

    i have a new 2018 GXL Prado upgraded from a 2013.

Friend of mine has a 200 GXL cruiser and he has a sports mode button which he reports makes a significant difference to the cars performance.

when I look at my manual I see this is available in other models.

Does anyone know why itís not in the current GXL, if it can be retro fitted

Pull the gear lever over to the right and select the gear you want eg. 5th. The box will shift up and down but gears will change at different points. Tow in S4 which is a direct 1:1 gear.

Donít expect any change in performance though. It just enables manual selection of gears. Useful but hardly ďsportĒ.

There's your problem - a 200 owner report! Let me guess, he also gets 6.2L/100 on the highway and by putting a bull bar on reckons he can get more than what he paid for it.

The 2.8 is what it is. It's actually not too bad for power/ performance really. If you need more power/ torque, you're talking performance chips.

All that 'sports mode' button does is change gears earlier or later. As 404 says - just go the manual mode and it's no difference.

Careful Camjam, you're starting to get that Y62 chip on your shoulder.
