  • GME remote head UHF install.

Not sure if anyones interested but I thought I'd post a couple of pics of a GME remote head UHF installation.
I picked up the 12v acc wire from the cig lighter and zip tied the radio body to part of the console to stop the radio rattling. I used a extention speaker to get a bit of extra volume.
I removed the blank plug next to the 4wd switch and cut some speaker grill to fit to allow the sound to get out.

Now I can hear it at highway speed and can put it back to standard without any marks.

Cant remember, already threw the box out. GME has two and it's the smaller of the two. Square about 70mm square.

Neat install. How did you secure the handset without drilling holes?

Double sided tape, the radio and mike has been in for about three months without a problem.
I only did the speaker hole yestersday becasue I was sick of straining to hear the radio while at highway speed.
Our work cars now have mike mounts that are made from thin, bent steel which mounts under trim and exits out of the trim where the joints are so there are no visible holes.

Remote enough mate, I guess I can claim that being about 270kms from groceries and 50kms from the nearest neighbour.
Nothing much else to do, it would be too boring if it was easy.

Please note the lack of bowling alleys and movie cinemas.

I'm about 270kms west of Mt Isa on the Barkly. There is a rest area directly over the road that is full of caravans this time of year.
