  • Help removing rear side trim to run cable.

Not to happy today was the day to run some 6 B&S twin and a trailer brake cable to the rear,
Started off well through the bonnet grommet down driver side kick panel, along door trim past pillar through the second stage door trim then THAT'S IT had to abort mission i was not able to remove the rear side panels all the rear floor/door trim.

Help needed and instructions on how to remove all panels in the far rear.
Got scared didn't want to break any clips etc.

I assume the 3rd row seats are still in place? Also that you are going to run the power cable down through the floor grommet that the trailer plug wiring goes through? Where are you hoping to get the cable to emerge? I ran mine down the passenger side because there is less to get in the way. The rear door body trim comes off and you can move the rear side panel out to get a hand there. With the seats and floor trim removed I was able to push something (bicycle hydraulic brake hose) through from the rear and get it to emerge from behind the side panel around the seat belt fastener.

It all really depends on where you want the cable to go. You need to get the brake cable to the jack compartment on the other side. Unless you are totally committed to going down the drivers side what about going the other way. You will still have a problem if the seats are still there but you can get enough access I reckon removing the flat trim across the back seats and the infill panel near the jack compartment. The link to removing these trims is on PP if you search. I will track it down and drop the link here a little later.

      Here you go:

In the second past there is a lissted posted the following:

Click on the search AIM botton, then "Vehcile" click LC150, "Catagory" intallation manual, then "Accessory Group" down to Towing Hitch wiring Kit, then just pick the top one. This shows the info on pulling out the rear seats. Pics of the drawers bolted in below

Thanks for the feed back, sorry I never fully explained yes the seats are still in, my plan was to run all the way down the drivers side all the way to the rear door then across the rear door to the compartment above the jack where I will install a fuse box then from there back down through the grommet to the ando plug.

But I still would like to fully remove the side panels as I want to also install x2 power sockets.
Do I need to remove the 3rd row seats to do so?

        Cheers jonesy

I really don't know but i think so. Take off the rear trim and the side trims which you will have to do anyway to get the cable across the back. Suck it and see. It isn't hard to take the seats out but if you don't have to then that will save an hour or so. You can 'pop' out the 240V panel and get some access there too. Anyway the instructions are easy to follow. Taking those trims off should give you enough room.

            Hi Jonesy83,

did you track down any instructions on removing the cargo liner? I got a good part way through but pulled up. Seemed to be just getting deeper and deeper into it. might try again on the weekend. If I do I will make up a post.

Like some one said above, remove the trim along the floor/door seal at the back of the boot, then halfway up the side wall where it meets the rear door there is a circular tee looking thing, turn it 90 degrees and remove to expose a philips head screw, remove this and you should be able so stare to pop the tabs up the side of the door seal. then below the centre of the rear window there is a small square panel, pop this out to reveal a 10 mm ( from memory) bolt, remove this and you should be able to pop the tabs below the window. this gave me enough room to get the cable back to the door (but it wasn't comfy)
