  • Door edge courtesy lights missing? - facelift model

    Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and prados, got my first one 3 weeks ago, brand new and it's great, it's a bit of a step up from my 89 Hilux! the bush pinstriping is much more upsetting on this one though. I've got a couple of questions though that I can't seem to figure out from looking at the handbook.

First one is the red lights in the bottom edge of the doors, the don't have any bulbs or wiring in them, I've pulled them out and had a feel around for wiring but it's not there. is this just because I got a GXL and not the VX/Kakadu or should they be there? reading other posts on here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-upgrade/page6 it seems they should be operational.

same goes for footwell lights, is it an upper-spec only feature?

my other question is not electrical but I'll chuck it in anyway, the third row seats, can you fit baby seats to them? the handbook says you can, but there's no place to attach the hook to on the floor or back of the seat, not usually an issue as we'll keep the kids in the 2nd row but would be nice to have the option to put them there if we are giving a lift to a couple of adults, saves them having to climb through and have no legroom when the kids have all the space in the world.

    Cheers,

    Ben.

      Hi

Ive got the same question in regards the door courtesy lights. I also have a GXL 2014 model and when you pull out the lens there is no wiring behind? Is there any wiring behind the door skin at all or is just for the upper models?

No one figured this out yet.
Just pick a new one yesterday and have found the same.
Haven't had it long enough to take the doors off.
          Hoping someone else has

I'll be having my windows tinted soon so will have a look and report. It would be nice to know earlier though, so then I'd know what I need to install and wire up these lights while the door skins are off....

I have a 2010 GX and these lights work on it so must have been deleted as part of the facelift.

An uncle has a 2014 tx-l (between your gx and gxl) and have true red lights on doors.

Yes, deleted in 2014 on GXL, no wiring harness either so you can't retro fit.

The VX definitely has courtesy lights in the doors and under the side steps.

I have prado 2015 2.8 diesel and the door courtesy lights wires don't exist. So bought the led light with harness for the front and back. The only problem is the back door courtesy door lights.I got the front working but the front still trying to figure out how to connect it to the door switch.

teddy , can you elaborate on what you purchased and what was required to fit the courtesy lights to the front and rear doors? I have a 2014 facelift model and would also like to install the courtesy lighting. I’m not too worried about the back door. Cheers.
