  • Issues with Radio / NAV System

    Hi All,
Has anyone ever experienced an issue with the 2014 GXL Radio / NAV System?

It first started on Wednesday with the reversing camera always on, then when the car re-started it went into a re-boot mode & sits on about 98%(see photo) for 10min then re-sets itself & tries over again.

I have tried disconnecting the battery for about 2hrs ... no luck ...
Can you flash these or perform a factory reset?

      Closed ....

If anyone is interested ... Toyota think it is a faulty unit (not just a fuse or something simple) and are ordering a new Radio / Nav system ... hopefully 1 week. Any outcome is a good outcome

I pulled mine out the other day and when I put it back it showed the same screen as yours (though only for a minute or so before working again). I think it's the system boot up screen that only happens when you remove the power completely from the unit (vs just turning the ignition off).

Glad to hear they are replacing it for you - I think they are right, faulty unit.

          Hi Geoffro

Did you get to keep the old unit from your 2014 GXL? My glass touch screen has cracked on my Fujitsu Ten unit from my 2014 GXL and I'm after the glass overlay. LCD screen still works fine cheers Cliff

Looks like something similar has happened to my 150! The radio froze up on me this morning & since then its been in a constant rebooting loop. Disconnected the battery for 10mins... But same rebooting issue. Toyota to look at it in a few days. Any hints?

if you hold the power button on the radio down for 10 seconds it does a force reboot, though i would have taught a hard reset would have worked. Worth a shot

                  Thanks trsmith...
I'm pretty sure that's how I started the reboot cycle when it froze on me. I will try a full 10seconds again today.

                  Cheers

There's a story about this problem in today's Daily Telegraph under Paul Govers Roadside Assist column. He puts the call out to Prado owners to email details to him at [email protected]

                        From the paper.
If it was just the radio it wouldn't be too bad but its the bluetooth and reversing camera which without becomes a safety issue, there is zero visibility out the rear. I'm firing off an email to Toyota to see what they have to say, I don't want to wait weeks for this to be fixed when it seems they are using dodgy radios.
And from previous experience yes I know I'm wasting my time with an email but you feel better.

Just out of curiosity, Did anyone with a frozen unit update their system using Toyota Link?
