    While on a recent trip to Fraser Is I went through a shallow pool of water too fast & soon afterwards 3 dash lights lit up. These were the Slip Indicator, ABS warning & Brake warning lights. There was no decrease in power or other indications of any malfunction, the car drove normally with these lights on.

    Stopping the car, turning the motor off cleared the lights in this first instance. Next day after a long drive & also going through some very soft sand all seemed OK, but I went through a deep water puddle & a few km's after that the lights came on again. Stopping & re-starting the motor had no effect. BUT not long after re-starting & driving with these dash lights on, they cleared.
    Another trip I went through a deep creek OK but returning through that creek set the lights on again & these only cleared after re-starting & driving for a short distance.

    Returning for home along the main eastern beach the lights again turned on after a shallow water crossing, cleared for a short time after driving for a while, then stayed on for the remainder of the drive to the barge. Restarting the motor on leaving the barge had no effect but as soon as I got onto the bitumen road the lights went out & haven't re-appeared. No lights again even after a thorough wash down under the car with a high pressure hose fitting & a sprinkler!

    During the whole time on the island there were only very few instances of the wheels slipping in soft sand (minor flashing of the slip indicator) & this didn't trigger the lights to stay on.

    My thoughts are that the slip sensors (anyone know where these are?) got very wet after that first drowning then began intermittently shorting & sending signals to the CPU to activate the lights.

    Has anyone experienced anything similar?
    Anyone have any suggestions as to what has caused this to happen?
    Should I be worried & get it looked at or just ignore it?

    Get a code reader and find out what codes have been thrown. if any are present it will help source the problem

      Should have mentioned that I have a scangauge & no fault codes registered.

        Get another code reader to double check, not a cheap scan gauge or such.. A lot of the cheaper readers don't read every code. I have even seen snap on not read everything before. Might be an abs sensor playing up, maybe check for damaged cabling on the 4 wheel speed sensors.

          Those three lights flashing can mean a heap of different things (I've seen mine throw them in relation to the EGR sensor being disconnected) and also heard of people having it happen to indicate a fault with the altenator.

            Thanks for the replies.

            Can either of you tell me where to find the wheel speed sensors & what they look like? I've had a look underneath but couldn't recognize anything that looked like it might be a sensor.

              It'd be easier to buy a 15 doller ebay bluetooth adaptor and get torque pro- This'll tell you exactly what's going on and how to fix it.

                Had a problem with mine which lit up the same warning
                lights. It turned out to be a broken wheel speed sensor rear left hand side. That cost $80 to have diagnosed and they wanted $330 for a new sensor. I'm in th middle of a big trip around oz and couldn't wait a week for the part so enquired again when I got to Darwin and was quoted $334 plus $160 for fitting it. I haggled on the price and got it for $284 and fitted it myself in 15 minutes. Absolute ripoff for a small electronic sensor which may cost $20 to make.
                The sensor on my lhs rear wheel was on top of the diff behind the wheel and quite accessible when you remove the wheel. It sounds like yours is shorting out when wet.

                  My 2010 vx had the exact fault went thru water crossing and all warning lights came up Alt/Batt light came up also.
                  After 10 mins slowly driving it cleared its self and the alternator started to charge again.
                  Next day drove thru the same water crossing all warning lights appeared again also the alt stopped charging.
                  All lights cleared except the alt light and it stopped charging for the whole trip home 2.5 hrs.
                  Ready to go and get new alt that arvo after car had been turned off jump started and it started working again.
                  Been fine ever since just not keen on driving near water which SUCKS till I find the problem
