3 batteries, 2 starter motors, and 2 alternators in less than 6 months due to water crossings (clear flowing fresh water) does anyone know of an alternator replacement for the 150 3.0L diesel prado that can handle water crossings?
The vehicle itself drives through them great with no troubles at all just the electronics seem to suffer and you get every single sensor and warning light show up on the dash as the voltage through the alternator starts spiking all over the place.
Unfortunately cant avoid the water crossings due to the location of where I live but 2 successive water crossings has resulted in the death of 2 alternators the first being the genuine one with less than 60000km which doesn't give me much confidence in the vehicle. Have never had this problem in any previous 4wd I have owned which I put through worse scenarios than my Prado. Has come to the point where I may need to say good by to Prado luxuries and look for something older and more trusting if I cant find a solution.
