Twice in the last two weeks the engine in my D4D has had a couple of stutters / misses as I've driven through a corner after braking. I'm not sure if diesel engines can have a 'miss' but that's what it feels like This does not feel like the 2nd gear hesitation that has been extensively discussed, it feels and sounds more like fuel starvation.

I had a look at the fuel system to check for water and it was all clear, and the diesel looked fine. What is strange is the air in the secondary filter. It has a bit of air in the top of the clear bowl and if I tip the filter upside down all the diesel drains completely out of the bowl (it's shown in the photos below).

I've checked for air leaks and can't find any. Also the car starts fine in the morning so it's not loosing pressure. The problem only occurs when slowing and then accelerating out of a corner.

So any ideas as to the possible cause?
