I know this is a bit late but haven't been on site for a while. I've had similar probs with Sept 2012 GXL T/D. However mine was at all different speeds and conditions. A couple of scary ones whereI came to sudden stop and since no brake light, following car nearly went up my clakka. This was about the time it was on the news about a VW (Ithink) problem. I had had mine for some time but it was getting worse and these events started to worry me. It was happening around corners, on highway, uphills, downhills nothing specific other than this stalling stutter. It strted to get to the stage where we could do the "1&2&..." up to 10. This seems a long time when in a normal driving mode. Strange thing was it would go for weeks and nothing happen and suddenly its on again. Seemed to be a 3-4 week thing. Dealer was fantastic and tried everything. This went on for most of this year and they tried reprogramming something two months back (it had been tried before) and hey presto, no problem. The frustrating thing was it would never play up when back at dealers. A couple of times with young grandkids in the car, they started crying and were really scared as the "Pradoo" was doing these strange things and they thought I was mucking around and when I explained I wasn't it freaked them out. So it was a very noticeable problem at times. However all good for 2 months until last few days and "they're back". Only minor lapses but because it had been going so well I was over the waiting for it to happen syndrome you can get in when an unknown hiccup keeps happening. Will see what happens. Again, I've been more than happy with the dealer's attempts to sort it and know if it is back again they will do their best. It is a worry though and wondering if anyone here has had a return of this after the reflash?

    Cheers
    Chris

Yep mine was ok for a week after the flash now its back to the usual 2500 rpm slight stutter. If I flick it across to the sports shift its completely gone.
Not overly noticeable anyway so ill wear it until a better flash is released.

      Cheers

Is your problem related to how full the tank is at all?

          Hi Guys,

I think I have this miss issue at high speeds on slight inclines (slow acceleration) at around 2300-2400 rpm. Its a very quick pause almost enough not to notice but its definitely something along the line of this issue. Mine is a manual, I'd be interested to hear if any manual drivers have had the ECU flash done and any improvements ? Also I assume there is no way to check the current ECU version apart from taking to Toyota ?

          Regards

            G'day

My 150 just started this stutter. I have owned it for nearly 2 months. The used car warranty just expired on my recent road trip, It has only started playing up today. It's just due now for 120k service. I have noticed this stutter when acelerating, mostly at higher speeds. Pretty annoyed.

The update should just be a part of servicing so no cost.

Just an FYI I had the update performed last week by a Toyota dealer, even though my car is out of warranty they were really good to pass the cost back onto Toyota Australia, hence free upgrade. I have noticed since the update, the car is much smoother between gear changes and just nicer to drive, I still need to do a longer trip to see if I can replicate the issue (hopefully not) but I'm pretty confident the problem is solved.

Rob, keep an eye on your fuel economy around town...oops just noticed you've got a manual. The economy issue only affects the auto.

I have a manual, had this problem and Toyota did the ECU reprogram and it's been fine since.

Good point even though its a manual I will keep an eye on it, but in essence so far I can't see any change. Overall I'm glad I've done the upgrade.

About Help with D4D intermittent stutter/ miss
I have a 2011 prado with this hesitation issue,
i have had it re mapped about a year ago and still she the issue, but unsure if the where about to update the ecu for the upgrade. Not really sure how this works though. And it’s around 2000-2400rpm she jumps in and out of hesitations. Would the temp have automatically updated this or is it something that only Toyota can do
