Excessive L/100 Fuel Economy Readings

Hi All,

Hoping someone could check their diesel economy dash read out while idling please?

We had an airtec snorkel fitted last Wednesday, and only today I noticed that my average L/100 is through the roof. Upon further investigation in the car park, waiting for the wife, I noticed that the current L/100 at idle was 30. As soon as I start driving, the read out returns to normal. On the read out on the nav display, the idle usage actual shows as 60L/100 hence the climb in the average figures..

The behavior of the car is normal, so I don't think anything's up, apart from perhaps a sensor being bumped during install. The readings are normal while driving and I highly doubt that it's actually sucking that much fuel at idle..

Dragging a tonne and a bit of boat 500Ks tomorrow night so hoping I can put my mind at rest..

Your instant economy for idle will be through the roof, think about it......

You're using fuel but doing no kilometres, so L/100km will be at its max.

My 2014 does the same thing while idling, I took a pic when it was new and sent it to my bro complaining about sh*t fuel consumption, lol

9999! Then I clearly have nothing to complain about. I figured as much anyway, just couldn't remember what it was doing last week as I'd never really paid much attention too it. It was only that the average had been creeping up so thought that could have been the reason.

Along with the readings being all over the place, at idle my reading is 9999 which was not always the case.

I will need 2 or 3 fillups with action taken via More/fillup for unit to reset itself.

Just in case this is the case with your scanguage Bushbasher

Indirectly it might also figure in the problem Saltbush11 is having.

Most vehicles go to max eg; 99.99lt per 100 instant when not moving.

Naturally it should, because not moving you will never get anywhere.

Saltbox11, I had a similar problem and it needed a few fills to get back to normal
