Time for some GOOD NEWS - longer life injectors - DLC DENSO

    Injectors definitely by 02/2010 production. Maybe a tad earlier I suspect.
    But they are in later vehicles, sometimes 2011, more likely on 2012, pretty sure most 2013+.
    So you could say by then they would all have them.
    So if you have a 1/13 I think you are lucky, well clear.
    Mine is pre the fully DLC coated injectors. No problem, change out at 120k and good for another few years.

      Like I said, there is no fully, (fluff & gue) You will most likely have DLC. Still no problem

        Hi ####,

        2013 purchase. The part number ended in 316. I'll take the intercooler off when I get a chance to take a photo of the top.

        There can be up to 3 years between the Injector manufacture date & vehicle manufacture date.
        But I'm getting good at picking it, between diagnostics, markings, & solenoids & codes.

        Dave, do keep checking them, because you can always be unlucky & get a bad one, or fuel issues.
        Also remember you are very close to the change over dates on hiluxes, they are where I have often found the 3 year gap from vehicle build date to engine. If they are late 2012 I'm confident it's all good.

        Razor, yes, they are on my shelf waiting for you. They have the solenoid top marks which denotes "prevents wrong combustion".

        Red Devil, you can only get the right ones, as long as you are buying from a local supplier. With grey import old stock, who knows what you might get. I dont know the whole number off hand but if you email me I will reply tomorrow.

        were they 316's?
        Do they have 2 dots on top of the solenoid?
        What year did you buy them? Do you have a picture of the code in the side so I can check their date?
        By the way, imo the old silver cap nuts were crap, the later dark grey ones much better quality.

          30400 is not a number I use.

          There's no extra DLC. Some marketing fluff & gue.
          There's no DLC, (old) & there's DLC. All fresh stock I buy or sell.
          Just the parts pictured in the top of thread. Those are the moving parts that needed the coating.
          I thought initially the DLC from DENSO was limited to the top and tail of the spindle where as now they coat the whole thing?
          Wasnt that BDG marketing edge?

              Hmmm. I have a July 2013 build pre-facelift and recently has started sounding like a tractor on cold startup. Should I get a workshop cold injector test done?

                Yes.
                Although the DLC injectors will last longer, they can still fail prematurely.

                        I just got the following reply from Denso Australia re 1KD injectors:

                        1. 23670-39365 and 23670-30400 Are the same injector
                        2. all DENSO injectors are DLC coated, its up to the OEM as to what they want to coat. in the case of this INJ it's fully coated.

                        I've asked him if there is a site that makes all of this clear. Will post details if he replies.

                            If it were me, I would replace the other three at the same time (at my expense if necessary). Then they will hopefully last around the same time. in the future.

                              Tell them they should be replaces as sets. Have they not learned? They may regret it later.
                              Can we please have a picture of the serial numbers off the side of the old injector? Lets see how old it is.
