So my 1GD 2.8 is fairly consistently showing 11.5 - 12.0 with mostly city driving. Mind you I have a frontrunner platform rack, 265/70/17 KO2's, bar, winch, snorkel, dual batts etc.

I have Never seen the DPF light come on in nearly 40,000kms. Should it be coming on? Should I be aware of it doing a burn, or is it hard to notice?

Last week I entered the DPF accumulation code into my Scangauge and have been watching it constantly.. It goes up to 80, down to 40, up down up down.. The burn light never comes on. The revs never change. Ive never seen it go down to 6 or 8, and never up past high 80's.

    Could I have an issue?

New 2018 VX Prado is giving 10.03/100km for nearly first 10,000km. Vast improvement over 2016 model. Current tank is running 9.6l/100km

New Prado 2019 2.8 GXL (with towbar and small nudge bar) doing 11.9L/100 (on the average display ) and around 11.2L/100 calculated for the first 1100km. Some CBD trips but a fair bit highway / 60-80km trips. No passengers, light as a feather on the pedal and very smooth driving.
Tad worried, doing a long weekend trip over chrissie break so looking forward (hoping) for better figures with a fully loaded car.

So much for the manufacturers figures of 8L/100 combined ... yeah right

I have been quite pleased with my 2015 manual GXL, only covered 40,000 Kms and currently showing average of 8.5, it also did 400 Km between DPF burns and the burn itself lasted about 15Km.
Mainly longish runs keeping to what I consider to be idiotic freeway speed limits of 100 Km/hr.

Just hired a brand new Prado for a trip to Alice. Bit confused by fuel economy. At 140km/h, got 10L/100 check by filling and odo reading. At 100km/h, dropped to 12L/100. Any ideas anyone? This behaviour was repeated over 5000km. Also got fuel light and empty gauge and it took 125L to fill. Can this be fixed?

                Hi AndyS,

My fuel light comes on before the gauge shows completely empty, as expected. Someone posted that the manual states the indicator light is to come at 22L remaining. At fills when my light has been activated, this seems about right for me. I fill my tank well though

My economy stats at 50,000Km from a 2018 GXL. Kerb mass is approximately 2,700Kg with all the permanent heavy accessories.

                  The big drivers are:
1 - Speed (aerodynamic drag increases with the square of the speed)
                  2 - wheels (Factory Dunlop RT20 265/65 R17 vs Toyo ATII 265/70 R17 on Steel Rims) add 1.2Ltr/100
                  3 - weight
                  4 - terrain
5 - right foot (stay in the "economy" zone when accelerating from lights)

                  a . Economy1 = 8.5 Ltrs/100Km, mixed city driving (Wt ~2,700Kg)
                  b . Economy2 = 12-13 Ltrs/100Km, highway driving (Wt ~3,050Kg max)
                  c. Economy3 = 8.5 Ltrs/100Km, mixed driving, wheels Dunlop AT20, 265/65 R17 on Factory Alloy Rims
                  d. Economy4 = 9.7 Ltrs/100Km, mixed driving, wheels Toyo ATII, 265/70 R17 Steel Rims (over reading a little due to bigger diameter wheels)
                  e. Economy5 = 17 Ltrs/100Km, ~1,000Km, Gibb River, Kalumburu roads, Carson River Track (Wt ~3,050Kg)

Since this thread has come to the front again, I'll add my two bob's worth.

My wife and I have just completed a 3 week Perth to Adelaide and return trip of just over 6,300km. We towed a 2,450kg caravan with the 2.8 litre MY2016 GX (2,620kg fully loaded with 2 adults and full fuel tank). So maximum GCM was 5,070kg (weights confirmed on a weighbridge).

On the return trip I reset the average fuel economy and average speed figures after leaving Ceduna SA. On the open road, the cruise control was set to 93-94 kmh. The average speed for that part of the trip was 74.5 kmh (this figure includes stopping/starting/towns and following a (rare!) slower vehicle. Fuel economy was 18.8 litres/100km.

As an aside, when driving just the Prado, with no trailer/caravan in both metro and country driving, it averages below 10 litres/100km.

Bit of comparison. A mate just finished a return trip Perth to Adelaide in a new 300 series towing a single axle 2.8t van. Sitting on around 100-105km/h he averaged 21l/100km
