Yes I did have some direct communication with him regarding one of my other Toyota complaints that they made me have a service despite the Prado being stood up on axles stands and unused since the previous one. It had covered 10 Kms between services yet he took the side of Toyota saying that "oils deteriorate" and needed to be changed every 6 months. I still think this is complete bollocks but when I challenged him about whether Toyota would change the oil if a car stood in the showroom for 6 months he replied that "he was the expert" lol so he is obviously quite arrogant.
However I do agree with him that Toyota have not handled this issue well and although I will probably upset several members on here by saying that a lot of customers are falsely convinced of Toyota's reputation for reliability and longevity.
My pet hate of the restrictive and locked down entertainment system is another example, I have been cheeky enough to ask owners I see with a nearly new vehicle what they think of the GPS, all of them said they had up to date maps and were surprised to find that they could be up to three years old when looking into the menu to find out.
I am fascinated to see what transpires from all this, I expect as usual the only winners will be the lawyers but I am yet to be convinced that fitting a button to be able to do something that should be done automatically is the answer. That is if you can get your newly fitted button to work!

He's focused on his demographic and waxes it with various quantities of facts and histrionics for maximum infotainment value.
Some of his clips are technically informative but the histrionics take the shine of many others.
He tip toed thru the matter of the class action like it was a bed of red hot coals, and unusually for him, didn't offer any opinions.
Just came back from a 9,000Km trip to the Kimberley. Including a 430Km grind along the Oombularri/Carson River Track.
The DPF in my 2018 Prado GXL did 2+ burns along the track whilst driving in 4Lo doing 5-15Km/hr, with 1+ meter high tinder dry straw grass in the middle of the track. We took the first 3 days to get 100Km.
So far so good on the DPF front after 40,000Km.
I was also watching the fuel filter between the Main and Sub Tanks.
Half way along the Carson River Track my Main Tank began to drain when the Sub Tank was still about 30% full.
However, by the next morning the Sub-tank level had dropped and the Main-tank was full again. This scenario happened again on the Tanami Road.
I keep an eye on it but have stopped worrying about it.
One day Toyota will publish their secretive non standard OBD codes that we reverse-engineer just so that we can drive safely over such remote tracks.Last edited by RPP; 13-08-2019, 12:24 PM.Comment
