Hesitating on acceleration 2011 Model

Does anyone in Melbourne know a Toyota Dealer that will update my ECU software on my 2011 that’s is hesitating/stuttering on acceleration when in Auto and typically below 3,000 Revs.

Spoke to Brighton toyota today and they don’t have a clue what i am talking about.

Any reccos or actually what i need to ask for will be massively appreciated. thanks

Has your vehicle had this problem for many years? If so, it could possibly be an ECU software problem. However, it is more likely to be a failing sensor or valve of some sort.

Generally, software does not "develop" faults, except from rare intense sun spot events. The problem is more likely to be from the ECU receiving wrong information from a sensor due to sensor failure or a wiring fault. Alternatively, there could be an actuator misbehaving (not operating the way it should). After all, your vehicle is 9 years old now.

If you can get your hands on a manual for the engine, there may be a diagnostic sequence that will help you find the source of the problem. Otherwise, you may have to get your local service department to diagnose the fault.

Edit: After further thought, since I have the manual for the 150, what engine 1GR/2TR/1KD is it? And, is there a DTC code reported for the fault? What do you mean by "when in Auto"?

Thanks for the reply. As soon as i get back to Melbourne I will let you know more details. It’s been a fault since i had the car, i just thought it was a delay in acceleration . Thanks

I once had one in the work shop that had a filthy air flow sensor, this vehicle had a massive flat spot as well, couldn't believe the difference after cleaning it
