Short story. My son won an online auction for a 2010 Prado 1KD. Afterwards he lost his nerve as it was known the engine was noisey. Being a nice parent I saved him by buying the car off him and taking the risk myself. Grrrr
Having done a heap of research it appeared this was definitely not a cracked piston but just noisey injectors. I bought all the necessary bits from a very helpful place and used all his videos to walk me through the replacement process. The noise is still there and it looks like the engine may well have spun a bearing.
Is it possible to pull the sump with the engine in place? Is it possible to replace bearings in place (have seen this done on truck engines b4)?
Is there a write up anywhere on removing a Prado engine?
Seeing as I have no intention of keeping this car, do I do as little rebuilding as possible, swap for another used engine of unknown condition or buy a new short engine?
I am quite capable at swinging spanners, I just don't enjoy it anymore.
What are your thoughts?
