Adding to this as I've had a few messages.

If an incline is too long or too steep for you to climb it at an appropriate speed with the convertor locked in 5th, it's better to manually shift it to 4th. Trans temps will be lower and fuel burn is actually better in 4th (when climbing vs 5th unlocked) you basically just want to avoid unlocked climbing in 5th all together.

I didn't notice any gain from the airbox gut, I also put a aFe dry filter in, but I have snorkel which apparently hampers gains. Are you snorkel also?

Interesting feedback from Tim, here's what he told me. 28hp is a decent gain given what the tune offers and what's on offer in NA land in general. He also told me the stock system is very restrictive, which I can screen shot also if needed.

Let me know if this doesn't scale properly so you cna read it.
      No snorkel on mine.
gutting the air box freed mine up heaps up top. Used to feel lazy up top before that.

raptor tune ‘seems’ to have filled in the bottom end to match the air box improved top end.
i say seems as haven’t done enough kms to say for sure, also my daily is an apr chipped golf that weighs 1300kg so a 2tonne Prado will always feel a slug after that...
planning to find a 4wd dyno somewhere and do some comparo runs to be sure, though also think that part throttle is quite different, and dyno will only show full throttle differences.

Part throttle and below 2.5k is what I was mostly keen on as I don't drive it hard.

If the bum dyno says it's better, it most likely is.

I was thinking about the exhaust too, and rather than dropping 2k on a full system, wondered what gains are to be had by deleting one set of cats, putting high flow cats in place of the others then doing a basic 2.5" pipe and better muffler out back. At a guess, maybe 1.3 - 1.5k if you were including all new pipe work from the manifolds back.

The logic being that making the primaries too big, in my experience, moves the torque band further up the rev range and I don't want that. So it may be better to stick with the standard manifolds and just improve downstream flow.

Oh and regarding the snorkel, I'd say that's why I don't notice as much fo a gain, it's almost definitely a restrictioin. I wish the car didn't have it as my water crossings have barely covered the diffs.

Mine is the same, usually spends its life between 1500 and 2500 rpm. Also a reason why I went raptors tune rather than their blower packages, as the Dynos readings and reports all suggested it was predominantly low/mid range improvements, which is where I felt it needed it most. Top end was good enough already (though better still with airbox mod) so didn’t really feel the need for more topend, that I’d rarely use...

That's what Tim keeps telling me.

If the market continues going in my favour, I'll celebrate by skimming a bit off the account for a tune
