Hi Folks,

I have squeaking coming from the front left of the car and it is driving me insane - Originally thought it may be the new aftermarket upper control arms so took them out and regressed all bushes etc. but it is still there....

It is surprisingly hard to work out where it is coming from... Even when lying under the car moving the car up and down as much as I can with my knees i can here the squeak but cant work out where its coming from...

Any ideas?? perhaps there is a coming thing that this starts with? I know its not from wheel turning - defo something else... Was thinking perhaps inside the steering tierod boot.

Yeah mine has been squeaking on the wheel liner.
Initially was concerned, but now I know what it is im not too fussed.

At first I thought it was the bull bar! lol

When driving on super flat is doesn't squeak, it's only if suspension is moving. Where\what is wheel liner?

The black plastic lining in your wheel well.
Mine squeaks on the front plastic bit - im pretty sure its fouling on the bull bar, I have an ARB bar.
I can get it to squeak by pushing on the bar, and then as soon as I hold or put pressure on the liner it stops.

Could be a loose bash plate bolt too. Found out after the missus yelled out for emergency groceries while I finished up an oil change and drove to shops without bash plates.

check the strut top nut has not come loose, mine squeaked like yours when I came back from Mitchell Falls last year and it was the left side as well.

Pretty sure its not the wheel liner and when I put my ear to the bottom of the LCA (yes literally :-)) it can defo hear it loud and clear.

I'll check strut top nut but there is so much force on the nut I'd be surprised if it could come lose - I'll give it 2 or 3 turns anyway just to be sure

If it's in the lower control arm I would be checking the lower strut mounting bolt. Back it off at ride height (wheels on the ground) then tighten it back up. If it's still there do the same with the lower inner bolts and work your way around like that.

Tightened the strut top nuts and Squeck gone.... :-)

Wish that had been the first and not last thing I tried :-)

Ok, now I know where to look next for that rattlely squeek that is not very loud but very annoying and hard to place.

The first place I look is the passengers seat, usually chasing a loud wineing noise.........
