Well done, the screen looks big compared to the standard one. Very interested to hear your opinion of the ease of use, screen quality, response to touch etc.
How do you access the android system, does it use iGO mapping with the modified program so you can add maps from the usual sources? Lots of things to ask you about as you find out more about the unit, but really pleased to hear that you found it straightforward to fit to the factory wiring.
Did you order any extras like the OBD2 sender ? Did it need a voltage converter for the reversing camera?
Pictures OK but would like to see some higher definition ones when you get time.

      John,

iGo was pre loaded, haven;t tested it yet, but have added OziExplorer app for off road mapping and put some maps on it to check it out, but haven't played with it much yet as I was just testing to see if it is much different to the widows version.
No need for any voltage converters for the camera, just plug it in and it worked. I have added a dash cam which also plugs into the unit so I can see what it sees as a option. I have got an ODB2 Bluetooth connector that works with the pre loaded Torque app, but haven't had much time to play with it either.

So far pretty happy with it, the radio comes on while it is still booting up, the only issue I find annoying is when in reverse the radio is muted, but I will need to see if that is a setting some where.

Found this while researching an Android black box for my Prado. Looks easy enough to fit. As I have the GPS installed, I have not been in touch with these guys. Just putting another option out there for the non gps Prado versions.

It fits well and reasonably straight forward to fit, as no instructions were provided. It takes all the factory connections and feeds from the reversing camera and usb. Will see how it goes over the next few months as I get to play with it and get used to using the android operating system.

Has anyone fitted one of these units to a 2012?
On the face of it, it looks like it will fit other than the hazard light switch, which will need replacing with a later one by the look of it.

I have had the Parrot unit for 5 years with no problems other than a bit underpowered. There is Blaupunkt 940 Android based unit that you can get for under 1k that looks like good value and I would probably get next time.

I've emailed the aliexpress Co to see what they have to say, waiting on a response.
The Blaupunkt 940 was my next choice but the size of the screen on this one looks like it'd be better and its cheaper. Anyhoo I'll see what they come back with.

Hi there, could you let me know the make/model number of the head unit you chose for your Prado? The Aliexpress link has expired and doesn’t work.

This is a very old thread and I haven't noticed MYT150 posting lately so you may not get an answer from him. Have you read all the posts from myself and Paddy about fitting our units a long time ago? I am still delighted with mine although I am not surprised the original links on AliExpress don't work as things have moved on since then. I expect the current head units have a better processor and run much later versions of android. Have you found any for your model of Prado by searching on AliExpress? as I am sure they are still available albeit in a later version than what I have.

                    Hi John,

Yes I have thank you, very informative. I’ve also had a look at AliExpress and am leaning towards Digoptions for the local support. They also are pretty close in price, specs seem similar, and they seem to have loads of accessories.

Is this similar to yours John? I want to add a CarPlay dongle as well so hopefully it’s compatible.

Yes the surround looks identical it just looks like an updated version. The extras like dashcam and tyre pressure monitor look the same although I cant see a reference to a DAB radio.
I cant help with car play as I am an android fan but I don't use any mirror facilities at all, this is because anything that an android phone will do the head unit will do the same only on a bigger screen so I find no need to mirror the phone.

Hi. As John said this looks like an upgraded model from mine - I have a Dasaita Android 8 unit from their AliExpress store. The Dasaita units are good IMO; & AliExpress stores are ok too. And like John am an Android person, so cannot help with Apple. Check out a few other head unit topics. I love my unit in the car, very flexible as you put whatever apps on. Grrry
