Ok i tried tea tree oil as suggested and it really only smudged the blue paint over the white writing. so back to the drawing board i guess, maybe black paint could be a goer.

Hello everyone, This is a response to an old post about removing lettering from vinyl awnings etc. I have found a solution that has been quite successful if anyone is interested. I too don't like advertising for companies after I have spend my money on a product, and I don't think I should then have to drive around a mobile billboard. My Supercheap Auto Ridge Ryder awning had large white letters which stood out like dogs........ears. I purchased this vinyl paint from Supercheap Auto $15 (make sure it's the Flat Black) taped off the area and gave it 2 coats. It's was a pretty good result. Should work the same on the Kings awnings and other brands like XTM from BCF. Good luck everyone, or you can just ignore my ramblings. Just thought I would put it out onto the interweb for reference. Cheers

Removed one last week from a Kings awning, Acetone and a rag. Worked 100%. no damage to fabric, total removal, not even an outline.

I can understand wanting to cover up a Kings or particularly a Ridge Ryder logo. But if you had say ARB or TJM gear for example, you’re generally quite proud to display their logos because they’re complimentary to the look of your car. On a side note, when you go camping nowadays how much Kings gear do you see everywhere. Heaps of people have it. I like it that people are saving money where they can and opting for cheaper alternatives, (the previous companies that used to flood this market would be filthy to the bone with Kings infiltrating on a large scale), but agree their logo is not nice to look at.

well , the way i see it - having good name brand stuff just makes it more inviting to thieves , who would be less likely to steal Kings branded stuff. Especially after our recent experience at the sundowner caravan park in Cairns , where the local flogs just jumped the fence helping themselves to the good stuff while the park manager didnt give a toss.

Yeah you do have to exercise caution in those places even though it is kind of out of your control to a degree. Cairns, Townsville & Mt Isa are absolutely shocking for thefts in the caravan parks. I have a relative who’s worked in two of those places as a policeman. He gave me a huge run down about one tourist park we were going to with the thefts that occur there and how brazen the locals were. He told me to leave nothing in my tent when we left the camp ground & leave nothing out at night. He was right. The buggers would even do the rounds at midnight every night trying everyone’s car door handles and they weren’t even that quiet about it. He also said the tourist park operator there didn’t care and would throw the entire responsibility back onto you if you had something of value stolen.

I had good experience removing the logo from the Kings awning by spray painting over the logo.

It means you don't have to worry about smudging, if you're trying to rub it off.

I also filmed a video for it on Youtube

Acetone and a rag, quicker and easier. No smudging. Done it to about 10 of them now.

It’d be awesome if the 4wd Super Centre offered this service of removing their pesky logos off the goods in the carpark after purchasing for $10-$20.
