    Hello everyone,
    So I've started reading here and there a bit and noticed that in almost every forums, there seem to be a number of posts about the cost of replacing the injectors for their diesel engines (1kd). I'm just wondering, is replacing injectors on your D4D diesel a thing that everyone will all have to do at a certain amount of km (general consensus is around 150,000 kms), or is it only done when the engine starts to show symptoms?
    Is there something that one should and should not do to prolong the life of the injectors?

    It’s a tough one as the previous gen prado injectors had some leaking issues but given these new ones don’t have a design fault they should see over 200k if looked after, and that really just comes down to fuel quality and filtration

    1 bad batch of fuel could cost you a set or even worse a motor, not as common to see that these days thow.

    water / diesel separator should help eliminate any minor water ingress

    black exhaust smoke, loud ticking are signs there worn, you can hook up techstream software to the ECU via a laptop and there is a computer controlled correction system the values can go from -5 to +5 for each injector, thow once outside -3 to +3 that injector should be replaced

    The 1GD uses solenoid injectors not piezo,
    not sure why they did not use piezo

    don’t stress too much people with 200 series cruisers have 8 to worry about

    The key is use good clean fuel and change one of the 2 factory filters every service

      Thanks Rocktop for your detailed answer.
      By 'clean fuel', does that mean any premium diesel at reputable servos (Caltex Vortex, BP Ultimate)?

      Which factory filters should I get the dealer to change at every service again sorry?

        Clean fuel is a hard one,

        high volume mainstream servos tend to be better

        My recommendation is BP ultimate

        There are 2 factory fuel filters, I’d recommend having 1 changed every service and discourage doing both at once.

        You can also install an after market filter eg. FM100, which is not only a filter but also water / diesel seperator installing as a primary setup this will work prior to reaching the factory one, I would recommended this if you plan on remote touring, easy to change and you will most likely get some average fuel along the way

        I don’t recommend adding any additives to your fuel like 2 stroke oil ect. This method is for diesels pre CRD
