  • ARB, poor workmanship?

I got ARB to install my Dual Battery & Engel plug. I thought I would use ARB as I have been told they do really good work, cost a little more but worth it.

I'm not a real technical person, but today my fridge & dual battery system shorted out when in the bush. After some investigation, I found what I believe to be the issue. Exposed wire where the Red/black cable connects to the Engel plug.

Is it normal practice to have exposed copper like this? To make matters worse, when I attempted to separate the red & black the yellowish connector bit fell off. ( I did mention I'm not a technical person )

Before I lose my shit at ARB I want to know if I'm just overreacting

    thanks for your thoughts

edit : tried to upload photo but site comes up with error.. sorry

They're all individuals, so it's going to vary from place to place. Especially when you're talking electrics like you are.
If it was a Bar or whatever, that's factory quality control so easy to lay blame if required.
Some do the electrics in house, some use a local auto electrician. Depends on their in house expertise or perhaps even just if they are busy.

Personally, I've been happy with my local ARB.

If described as you have above, it sounds like shoddy workmanship. I'm guessing the yellow thing might have been a spade terminal, which are crimped on. If it fell off, it was a poor crimp job, an no.. a quality job would not have copper showing.

Note - these are my thoughts. I'm not an auto electrician

Should not have any exposed wire coming out of a terminal.

ARB are fixing the issue now... great customer service.. just really shit workmanship. ARB seemed pissed that the vehicle was fitted this way. Glad I’m not the person who did the work.

Customer service was good... but wasted over an hour of my life and my beer got warm. Not really impressed with ARB, don't think I would use them again. I would post a picture of the workmanship.. but this site is still broken. If you want to see let me know and I can email you

Individual franchises are the problem. I had work done by another group on my 120 pre delivery. Cable to the built in compressor was 4mm2 and the front struts were tightened in the air. Another reason why I do all my own work as much as possible.
