  • Windscreen Calibration

    Hi guys,

I am a newbie and I am dealing with a stone break on my 2018 GXL windscreen. It is scheduled to be replaced with a genuine part. Does it need to be sent for camera calibration even if it will be using the same glass?

Hi there, for my case, the calibration was taken right after they put my new windscreen back on last year. It should be done together with your windscreen replacement. I have free-access windscreen cover, so it was done through insurance claim, genuine glass was used too.

I was waiting on site and looking while they replaced and calibrated the windscreen and cameras, they parked the car on the right spot, with all those distance check marks, and laser aim check on the far side, then played on their PC a while for about 10mins, right after I was told my car was all up ready to go...The whole job was about 1hr30min, by O'brien Auto Glass through insurance claim.

I had to get my 2018 GXL windscreen replaced last year, the cost was eye popping, lucky my insurance covered it.
I was in the Kimberley and had to drive to Kununurra to get it done. A local windscreen specialist had a couple of spares, installed the new one and arranged for the local Toyota Dealer to do the calibration.
I asked the maintenance manager at the Dealer what would happen if I didn't have the re-calibration done.
He said the ABS would be disabled.

RPP ! I have verified this with National Windscreens and the process is the same. Lucky I have added the excess-free windscreen cover. I will update this thread once I get more info as we are still waiting for the glass.

I had my 2019 GXL glass replaced last year through National Windscreens. Installer did the glass replacement then next day I took it to Toyota who calibrated the cameras etc again. Wife picked it up so never asked what they did but she was told if it did anything unusual whilst using cruise control to bring it back as apparently the calibration doesn’t always work and it may need to be done again.

no idea if they just covering their arse if it did play up, but everything worked as per before and no issues since having it replaced about 3-4 months ago.

Thanks for heads up about costs and calibration. I checked my vehicle's windscreen insurance. Yes, free excess windscreen replacement.

My windscreen has been replaced and the ADAS has been recalibrated. I am not sure if there is really an offset as it was replaced with a genuine part, but the recalibration costs $300+.
