Help please prado rattle

hey guys I've got a rattle in the rear door of my prado that is absolutely driving me mad! Take the spare tyre off rattle goes away it rattles when I open and close the door its like the vibration from the spare tyre is causing movement internally ive tried everything.. if I hose the inside of the door rattle disappeares I do how ever live on a 200 metre dirt road but surely this isn't normal as the vehicle has only done 80k if any one else has had the same issue help would be much appreciated cheers ..

Is the rubber stopper from halfway up the inside of the rear door missing? Try closing a towel in the seal and see if the rattle goes away.

Hey mate it rattles with the door open.. its like the door skin has come away internally if I bang on the tyre with the door open it makes a metal on metal sound

Take the trim off the inside of the door, you'll find the instructions on this site.
You might need to gently peel off some plastic film covering the openings on the inside door panel.
Then check for any loose parts.

Not sure if this has been covered but the rattle happened on the first day of my 1 week off and drove me Nuts. 3 spot welds had broken only noted small cracks in the paint at the point of spot weld under the plastic trim just under internal door release. If you lube the spotweld well enough the squeak / rattle goes away for a time but in the process to weld them up. Will post pictures of repair if any interested. 2018 Kakadu

I have a 2018 Prado. I had some internal welds break in my rear door too. Toyota replaced the whole rear door as an out-of-warranty claim with no cost to us. The car was 6 months out of its 3-year warranty.

I think the total cost (which we didn't pay) was around $2500. That was for a new raw door, painting and new seals and such.

Definitely worth chasing it up with Toyota. Familiarise yourself with the Australia Consumer Law first: http://consumerlaw.gov.au/

I use a wheel bag and used to have a large KAYMAR spacer for the spare wheel - this would have contributed to the issue. I now have a smaller spacer and minimize the weight in the wheel bag.
