Troubleshooting a low power issue!
What are your actual vs commanded throttle values?
Hi guys, I have been having some issues with lower than normal power in my 2013 150 Diesel Prado.
The vehicle drives smoothly but just underpowered. No black smoke and boost is sluggish and only reaches a peak of 11 vs 15psi but takes some work to get there.
There are no fault codes.
I have just swapped the MAF and Boost sensor from a friendly neighbor with a similar Prado and these made no difference.
MAF Filters is not cracked or blocked.
Boost leak test performed.
I have checked the exhaust and air cleaner for blockages.
I have the EGR shut off professionally in the program, and have a catch can.
I have a secondary fuel filter and these are new.
Turbo variable vane is actuating and has full range of motion as does the swirl control.
So today I was doing some more diagnostics and noticed that at idle and up to approx 2000rpm the MAP is negative, as much as -2psi. I wouldn’t have thought this was normal is a turbo engine.
This made me think that the throttle (butterfly before the EGR) may have an issue and remaining closed or more closed than it should be.
So looking at the live data I noticed that the commanded throttle position was different to the actual throttle position especially at low rpm below 2000rpm.
See pic at idle if my data.
So my question to you guys with scanners or some data know how, what is your actual vs commanded throttle data suggesting on your vehicle? And is your MAP ever in -ve?
Cheers in advance and discussion is welcome if positive.
Yes I have taken it to my diesel mechanic, and auto spark etc
