  • Rust found on engine & steering components

    Hi All
Had a look underneath the 150 the other day.
All OK until I looked though the bash plate under the engine.
There's rust on almost all engine, steering & suspension parts. ( not visible from above engine) It's a huge let down. I hate rust, let alone on a new car that has not seen beach or salt pans or anything bad.
Had the car inspected by Toyota dealer where I bought it & was told that it is normal & they all have it. I'm the owner of a $65K rust bucket!
Could be worth a look & please have your say if yours is the same.
I intend photoing it at the weekend.

Re: Rust found on engine & steering components

    Hi,
There is a Toyota dealer near my workplace, and from time to time I drop by and look under body as I like mechanical staff.

There are rust in almost every where bit by bit. - Yes, it is a brand new in their yard - IT IS VERY NORMAL!
It won't damage the performance or value of the vehicle.

When you have a chance, drive into mud, so you don't see the rust anymore. - That's what 4WD is for.

Have a good 4WD day.

Mine looks more like a rusty old ship under the engine area.
      Not happy.

Trade it in on a Landrover.
They had an inbuilt feature that ensured there was never any rust on those under engine components.
The newer ones have done away with that feature however.
        Cheers, Wayne

Having previously owned a Disco I can confirm this feature was excellent at keeping rust at bay! Made a hell of a mess on the garage floor though

          Cheers
