  • Winch with NO bullbar

    Hi All

Anyone know of a way to mount a winch behind the standard bumper bar. There is a link from some guy in South Aus. who has done it and posted it on YouTube. Tried contacting him to no avail.
Is it just a simple winch cradle or is there more to it.
    Thanks

Is the guy that did that video. I'd however say he never went any further with it if he has gone so quiet.

There is a number of brackets available, most out of the US for the Lexus equivalent.

            Wildcaddy,

Any chance of letting us know how it goes and the cost to buy?

Looking at something similar but to suit the OEM bar

              Hey Kayne

I did manage to get the owner on the phone. Nice guy to speak with. He mentioned he is looking into tying to find a cheaper freight company as the cradle apparently cost him approx. $1300 landed plus install plus winch would take it to $2500 to $3000. Not what I would call value. The last link Piggy posted is the same unit. They are made in Israel. I have contacted the company direct asking for freight costs.

Ill keep you posted when I find out more.

Can't see the sense in it myself- I appreciate that some people don't like the aesthetic of a bullbar, but a winch is only required generally if you're going to be doing some pretty serious 4wding- If you do anything half wild that front bumper is going to get torn off as the approach angle on it sucks and it's basically a piece of plastic held on with clips.

Atherton, You don't need to be doing serious 4wding to get stuck. You can get bogged up to your sills in sand or mud or not gaining any traction up a slippery incline. At the price I've been quoted, I don't see the sense in it as well but IMO bull bars do look ugly with the exception of the Rhino bar. Having a winch is a little extra confidence to give the tracks a go. Bull bar manufactures are still using the same aesthetic design that they were using decades ago. I would go the Rhino bar but at $3,900 fitted, I cant justify it.

Kayne, the company in Israel did get back to me.

As per your request we went out for quotes from various sources and the cheapest quote we received for freighting to Australia (Door to Door) was for US $ 265
